Mark Webber wants to be more competitive against Sebastian Vettel in 2012 – Formula 1 news
Mark Webber said that he is gunning to be much more competitive against teammate Sebastian Vettel in the 2012 season.
During the 2011 season, Webber although performed very well and came 3rd in the drivers’ championship, but his teammate Vettel had been outstanding winning 11 Grands Prix. The Aussie was only able to claim one Grand Prix during the whole 2011 season at Brazil. The scales were not so tilted during the 2010 season, where Webber and Vettel were almost equally good with the German winning the title.
Webber is optimistic of a much more competitive 2012 season. He says that winning the last race of the 2011 season in Brazil has given him a much needed momentum and will be going into the next season with a very positive mindset. He expressed that understanding the little things in the bigger picture can make your season from good to great, and he will be looking to apply himself towards being great in 2012.
“The next most important race is Melbourne and next year will be different to this year, because that's just the way I'm sure things will go,” Webber told Reuters. “I'm very, very optimistic and positive that I'll have a very, very strong season and that's what I'm going to look forward to. I'm still driving very, very well.”
“It's an extremely fine line before you start to unlock a few other things that can make your season go from good, which was this year, to great, and that's what I need to be able to try and do,” he further added.
The 35-year-old is excited at the prospect of racing in front of his home crowd in Melbourne, Australia, and said that although there are still about a hundred days before they race again, he cannot wait for the season to begin.
Red Bull will be unveiling the RB8 for 2012, with a new blown diffuser design as FIA has banned the off throttle gases emitting from the car. It will be interesting to see how dominating Red Bull will prove to be compared to its predecessor RB7 and other cars on the grid.
