Mark Webber warns his rivals after topping Barcelona testing timesheets – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing Team’s Mark Webber recently topped the timesheets by a margin at the first day of the final pre-season test session that took place in Barcelona.
His lap was faster than the times of the third pre-season test session that took place in Barcelona as well at the Circuit de Catalunya two weeks ago. His time was over 3 tenths of a second faster than McLaren’s Jenson Button who scored the second fastest
time of the session.
Mark scored his fastest time before the lunch break and made the most of his peak during track temperatures as soon as the sun came out.
He ran on a set of new tyres and scored faster times as compared to the rest of the drivers on the team even during that point of the day. Red Bull Racing Team was looking pretty good as compared to the rest of the teams as most of the teams were suffering
from a major problem around turn nine where a strong crosswind was the main source of that problem after crossing the apex.
Other than Mark and Jenson, Renault’s Vitaly Petrov and Sergio Perez scored the third and fourth fastest times of the day respectively followed by Nick Heidfeld and Paul di Resta in Lotus Renault GP and Force India respectively.
The rest of the pack was nowhere near the top six runners but the session was quite comprehensive with reference to the team’s set-up process.
Nevertheless, Jenson Button believes that McLaren are not going to be anywhere near the pace of Ferrari or Red Bull Racing Team at the season opening race in Barcelona but with due time, they are going to catch them.
The final pre-season test session is expected to end on March 12, 2011 while the season opening race is expected to take place in Australia on March 27. The final test session is very important for all of the teams and its results are going to help the teams
judge their respective car to some extent.
