Mark Webber will be pleased to stay at Red Bull Racing – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber has said that he will be pleased to stay at his current team after 2012 Formula 1 season.
Webber’s contract with Red Bull is going to expire at the end of this season and there have been many speculations that he may join Ferrari.
However, it has been recently reported that the defending champions may look forward to extend their agreement with the Australian driver. Meanwhile, Webber has said that his first priority will be to continue his career with Red Bull.
“First I will talk with my team, because I would be happy to continue here,” Webber, this year’s Monaco winner and currently second behind Alonso in the drivers’ championship, said.
On the other hand, there have been many rumours that he is having some issues with his teammate, Sebastian Vettel. Nonetheless, the veteran German driver said that although they are not friends but they don’t have any problems as they are here to work together
for their team. Moreover, the two-time world champion said that he would have no problem with Webber’s contract extension.
In addition, the Aussie said that he wants to stay in the sports and is positively looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming races.
“I’m motivated, I feel good, I’ve got a great job to drive the fastest cars on the world’s best stretches of road. That’s a dream,” he insisted.
Furthermore, it will be very important to mention that he anticipated some changes in the top four contenders in the next season.
“I think given Felipe [Massa]‘s results there could be a change there,” said Webber. “It’s such a great team with great history. It’s also unclear what’s happening with Michael [Schumacher]; the same goes for me at Red Bull and Lewis [Hamilton] at McLaren.”
Presently, he is standing at second place in the drivers’ championship with 91 points and is 20 points behind the leading driver, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari. Additionally, he has been one of the most consistent drivers in the season so far and is aiming
to fight for the championship title this year.
Over and above, he is presumably one of the most favourite drivers in the title chase and it will be interesting to see how the season progresses for him.
