Mark William says Ronnie O’Sullivan should be paid extra to appear in tournaments – Snooker news
Mark Williams has said that Ronnie O’Sullivan should be paid extra cash to appear in the tournaments as he is a renowned snooker player is liked by millions of people.

He said that whenever he is there in a tournament, more tickets are going to be sold.
Ronnie O’Sullivan has been seen missing in 10 out of the 12 snooker events held in the 2011 season. The 35-year-old snooker genius did not show up in the German Masters held recently in Berlin reasoning illness. The top favourite in the German Masters
announced his withdrawal in the very last hour.
Ronnie O’Sullivan, the former world number 1 and the most controversial player has been criticised by many people including the chairman of the world snooker Berry Hearn.
Hearn said that he is not concerned if Ronnie plays or not but he cannot just pull out himself in the last minute. He said that he was very disappointed as the world snooker association wants to expand its horizon and this was a major tournament. He
also said that Ronnie is always liked by the people but only when he wants.
Former world champion and the winner of German Masters 2011 also added that the people in Germany have told us that they do not need Ronnie as there was a houseful and more than 14,000 tickets were sold before the first match of the tournament was
played. However, it is also a fact that the presence of Ronnie would have taken the figure to an even higher level. Also said, although large crowds have attended the Berlins event but snooker has always been more active when Ronnie is there. He brings an
extra buzz to the event, said Mark Williams.
Mark Selby disagreed to Mark Williams saying that there should not be one rule for one players and other one for the rest. He said rules should be the same for everyone and there should not be any special favours given to anyone.
Williams said that may be the only way to make him appear is that you start paying him extra appearance money.
Ronnie’s ranking has dropped down to number 10 because of not showing up in various events. Ronnie has previously been found refusing a maximum break on the black ball, since there was no prize money, but then completed it on the umpire’s request.
Later on in his interview he admitted that the prize money was not worth it, he said that he could give that amount in charity himself but there should be a bigger prize for the 147 break.
The Welsh Open is now starting next week on February 14, 2011 and Ronnie has his name their in the last 32 and everyone is hoping that he does not do anything similar this time.
