Mark Williams admires Ronnie O’Sullivan for his impressive form in 2012 World Snooker Championship
Second round clash between the former three-time World Snooker Champion, England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan and the former two-time World Snooker Champion, Wales’ Mark Williams was a tussling encounter in the beginning but the Englishman played brilliantly in the
later part of the match to snatch the victory by an easy score line of 13-6 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
At the end of the first session of the game, Williams was in the lead by the score line of 3-2 after firing some outstanding knocks at the baize. The next two sessions were totally dominated by the 2012 German Masters snooker tournament as he cruised into
nine frame wins to reach 3-11 mile stone. Williams grabbed two more frame wins to move within two frames up at 5-11.
Before the Welsh Potting Machine could add more frames to his side of the scoreboard, the Essex Exocet breezed into two set victories to ensure his victory by the score of 6-13. Williams was hoping for a positive result out of the Championship and started
well but defeating O’Sullivan ended his hopes. However, the former Champ is happy for O’Sullivan and appreciated his game play.
While speaking to World Snooker, Williams said, “If Ronnie plays anything like that there's no one left in this competition that can give him any kind of run really. I think Robertson is the only one who could but he's just so far in front of everyone else
it's just frightening. You've just got to take your hat off to him and admire what he's doing. It was frightening to watch.”
Williams’ form in the recent snooker season was not according to the standards. He was not able to win any major snooker tournament which did affect his game play. The 2012 World Snooker Championship was the only hope for Williams to shine and get back into
his form but unfortunately he failed to improvise accordingly and tumbled down at the hands of the Wordsley Potter.
The Rocket will next meet the 2010 World Snooker Champion from Australia, Neil Robertson. The encounter seems a tussling competition as both cuemen are playing impressively in the championship so far.
