Mark Williams tumbles down against Michael White to reach quarter-final stage of Asian PTC Event 1
Proceedings of the final stages of the newly added Guotai Liqueur 2012 Asian Player Tour Championship (APTC) are underway at the Zhangjiagang Sports Centre in Zhangjiagang, China. The fourth round competitions finished featuring eight cuemen into the quarter-final
stage of the event. The spectators present at the arena enjoyed every moment of the event proceedings.
The former two-time World Snooker Championship winner from Wales, Mark Williams displayed an outstanding performance in his third round match against China’s Cai Jianzhong and made his way into the quarter-final stage of the event defeating the Chinese potter
by the score line of 4-3.
He set up compatriot Michael White quarter-final clash in the Last eight round, which seemed an easy game for the Welsh potting Machine. However, he was unable to maintain his good form against White and tumbled down quite easily against him by the score
line of 4-1 in the fourth round. Williams gave his best to unsettle White but his compatriot tackled his attacking game brilliantly and nudged him down.
White knew the strengths of his opponent and did not give him any chance to create trouble for his run in the match. He grabbed early lead in the game and kept it until the game finished in his favour. During his match run, White fired some terrific knocks
including a century break of 105 and a decent 67-point clearance which were enough to oust Williams.
White has now surged into the quarter-final clash where he will meet China’s Zhang Anda. White is looking quite determined and has played sensibly throughout the tournament which makes him a tough opponent, especially at this stage of the event where there
the top dogs of the game are battling for the APTC glory.
White will be aiming to keep his playing style intact and try to catch the weakness of his opponent and push him down in the game.
The tournament has produced tremendous snooker competitions so far where many top guns have received major upset defeats while many new names, including the talented Chinese potters, have qualified for the advanced stages of the tournament. The contest is
getting a tremendous amount of support and appreciation from the people of China who come to watch their favourites in action.
