Mark Williams wants to win the 2011 Welsh Open – Snooker news
Two-time former world champion and world number 2 ranked player Mark Williams seeks victory in 2011 Welsh Open which will be held from February 14 – 20.

Mark, who also has won the German Masters recently has won playing against his opponent Mark Selby with a frame score of 9-7, says that this tournament is of much importance to him and also for Matthew Stevens and Ryan Day.
The hometown favourite said that this tournament is going to bring its own pressure. He also added that previously the Welsh players have not been able to do justice and hopes that this time he wins it.
All three Welsh players, Williams, Matthew, and Ryan will have to fight against some of the big guns in snooker like Ronnie O’Sullivan, Stephen Hendry and the world number one, John Higgins.

Previously in the German Masters, the top favourite Ronnie O’Sullivan did not show up reasoning illness and on the other side Higgins also withdrew as his father John senior passed away after fighting for 5 years with cancer. However, both players
have their names listed in the Welsh Open 2011.
Mark Williams lost to John Higgins in the final of the UK Championship where he was leading Higgins by 9-5, before losing 9-10 and in the German Masters he had a very narrow escape when he was leading his opponent by 7-4 before Selby clawed his way
back and equalled the scores by 7-7.
Mark said he was thinking in his seat that if he is going to let another one slip. However, the 35-year-old realised that there is something he can do which later on relaxed him.
Welsh Open this year is coming up with a new format of best-of-seven frames which are going to go on until the last 16 with only two tables in the arena so that every match could potentially be televised on BBC Wales.
