Mark Wilson is the expert pick for the RBC Heritage
Mark Wilson is in the field of the RBC Heritage, scheduled to start from April 12 to 15, at the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Experts selected the top-10 favourites and hottest golf players for the upcoming PGA Tour-staged event. Wilson is on the sixth position and is capable enough to impress the spectators.
The 37-year-old American professional golf player is currently holding the 28th position, according to the Official World Golf Rankings.
He turned professional in 1997, and has won nine professional events in total so far. More importantly, he was able to record five PGA Tour victories.
Wilson won his first PGA title in 2007, in the Honda Classic. After that, he faced many difficulties to score and failed to grab a lead.
In order to improve his game, he practised and returned to winning in 2009. It was March 1, when he won his second PGA title at the Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun.
After winning the second title, he again remained static for a year. Last year, he surprisingly achieved the glory of the Sony Open in Hawaii, with a two-stroke lead in January.
Then in February, he recorded another win at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. This time he defeated the American Jason Dufner by making an early birdie in the playoff mode.
His performance in the current year is also impressive. He is the proud winner of the Humana Challenge played in partnership with the Clinton Foundation, played in January 2012.
Later, he finished on the third position at the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship as well.
After two best finishes, he has faced many hurdles while scoring in other tournaments staged by PGA. However, experts still think that he has plenty of chances to be the winner at the RBC Heritage.
“He isn't long but doesn't need to be at Harbour Town, where iron and wedge play -- Wilson's specialty -- are what it's all about. Hitting it straight is what counts here and not many do it better than the five-time TOUR winner,” Brian Wacker, the PGA Tour
expert, said.
Now, Wilson has to score well, in order to fulfil the experts and spectators expectations. He can win if he plays well and deliver his best at the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head.
