After Netherlands’ Euro 2012 disappointment, the former AC Milan midfielder has insisted that this is the perfect time for the youngsters to step up and shine for their national team.

Van Bommel, who has been representing the Oranje since making his debut in 2000, has stressed that Netherlands have some brilliant youngsters, and this is the best time for them to cement their place in the Dutch squad.
“The time has come to make way for younger players. We have some promising youngsters coming through and they now have to continue their development at the highest level”, Van Bommel was quoted as saying by OnsOranje.
The 35-year-old, who has thus far donned the jersey of the Oranje in 79 matches, went on to reveal that he is going to hang up his boots at this point, and would be available for selection if the coach needs his services.
“I don't want to officially retire from international football. I will still be available if the coach needs me for some reason due to special circumstances. Oranje has always been very important to me”, Van Bommel concluded.
The highly-rated defensive midfielder, who would be joining http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven this summer after representing AC Milan in 39 matches, did not name any promising young talent.
