Markadam brings fierce competition to Musselburgh
Musselburgh will be packed with horse-racing fans on 16th February, 2012. The Racing UK Handicap Hurdle of Class 4 will be run across a distance of 2 miles and 4 furlongs with a purse worth of £2,599.
12 runners are competing in this race. The line-up consists of Loden, Civil Unrest, Long Distance, Woodmore, Laureate Des Loges, Stormy Morning, Markadam, Hartforth, Battle Honour, Royal Entourage, Dane Cottage, and Murkle Boy.
Loden is a tough competitor and can be difficult to beat if he races to his ability. The 5-year-old gelding finished 2nd on 29th November 2011, at Southwell in Robbie’s Future’s Bright And Purple Maiden
Hurdle.
This will be his first race this year, and his trainer Don McCain is hopeful that his performance will exceed expectations.
Civil Unrest’s performances have been average. He is racing against some tough competitors. In his last race, Hair Of The Dog Novices’ Hurdle, at Musselburgh, on 1st January 2012, he finished in fourth.
The 6-year-old gelding finished a dismal seventh on 3rd November 2011, in the Edinburgh Evening News Novices Hurdle at Musselburgh. His performance this year has improved, and his connections have high hopes for his
success.
Long Distance, the 7 year old gelding, has to beat some tough competitors to gain the lead. He finished 5th in the MGM Precision Handicap Hurdle, at Newcastle on 7th January, 2012.
Stormy Morning secured victory at Sedgefield on 22nd December 2011 in the John Wade Earthworks and Demolition Novices’ Handicap Hurdle. He may prove to be a hindrance for Markadam, if he brings all he has to the table.
Markadam’s performances have been on the rise. He finished in 1stplace on 1st January 2012, in the Buy Your 2012 Annual Members Badge Today Handicap Hurdle at Musselburgh. He was the runner-up at the Country Refreshments
Handicap Chase, at Musselburgh on 13th January, 2012.
This 6-year-old gelding is attracting bets for this race. His trainer Dianne Sayer, and owner Tony Harrison are also hoping that his performance will continue to improve.
Royal Entourage is attracting bets from the punters despite his average performance. He finished 8th in the Check Betfair Before You Bet Novices’ Handicap Hurdle held at Wetherby on 26th December, 2011.
He finished fourth in his first race of this year in the Southwell-Racecourse.co.uk Handicap Hurdle at Southwell on 18th January, 2012.
It is predicted that, Markadam, will be the front runner for this race. The second place may be awarded to Royal Entourage or Stormy Morning.
