Market Rasen loses Thursday’s meeting due to bad weather – Horse Racing Update
Another bad news for the horseracing fans in England was announced today, as the Market Rasen meeting on Thursday, December 6, 2012 was abandoned due to freezing temperatures.
Cold weather conditions have really caused a lot of problems for the race organisers in the United Kingdom throughout the season. Although, most of the tracks are well covered, this has not helped the situation much.
Inspections are being held at almost all venues on daily basis in order to see whether conditions have improved or not. The organisers have been trying their level best to keep the racecourses ready for action, but they seem to be helpless against
the extreme weather.
There was a similar situation in Market Rasen, as the track was not in racing condition and the officials did not have any option but to cancel the event. They were hoping for the conditions to improve, but the temperatures kept on falling continuously.
An inspection was held at the venue in the morning and things did not look good at all. The temperature in the morning was good, but it dropped down as low as minus five degree Celsius afterwards. Moreover, no improvement was expected over the next
few hours, which forced the officials to go for cancellation.
Furthermore, the meetings at Leicester and Wincanton are also under a threat of abandonment, which will not please the spectators at all. Both venues have been affected by rain and the temperatures have been dipping continuously.
The organisers have already inspected the conditions in the morning, but they have not come up with any decision at the moment.

However, they are hoping against hope that the weather conditions get better with the passage of time. Therefore, they have scheduled another inspection in order to decide the fate of Leicester and Wincanton.
Plenty of races were abandoned during the winter season and the British Horse Racing Authority (BHA) had to announce some extra meetings.

Things got under control during the summer, but the authorities might again have to organise some additional events. However, no final decision has been taken yet, as the situation seems to be out of control at the moment.
