Marketing Mix heading the field for Dance Smartly at Woodbine
Marketing Mix, Thomas F. Proctor’s 4-year-old filly, is geared up to pursue a huge cash prize of $300,000 in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly, taking place at Woodbine in Canada on Monday, July 8th. The Glen Hill Farm-owned is brimming with confidence
following her astonishing success in the Nassau Stakes at this track last month.
She has been maintaining the standards since the start of this season and heads the field of seven in the imminent mega event. The daughter of Medaglia d'Oro handled soft ground quite nicely last time, sealing a comfortable win over 1-mile.
The filly has won five of her seven starts since the handler brought her to turf almost a year ago. She claimed the first prize on her turf debut in the Wonder Where Stakes in last August.
After starting her turf career on a high note, she continued the good work to ensure the top place in the Group 3 Pucker Up at Arlington Park. However, she could not display an equally good show, when stepped up to the highest level at Keeneland.
The Group 1 QE II Challenge Cup saw her finishing second behind Together. She quickly got her act together and registered a comprehensive triumph in the Grade 2 Mrs. Revere, which was her final outing last year.
The dashing filly made her seasonal comeback on a winning note, when clinching an easy win at Keeneland. She has such a great track record over turf that the bookmakers are left with no option, but to give her the highest starting price for Monday’s battle.
She is facing a star-studded line-up. Among her rivals is Inglorious, who was runner-up at Keeneland before suffering an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Marketing Mix in the Nassau Stakes last month.
Another fascinating contestant is Kissable, who is making her North American debut after doing a reasonable job in Ireland. Others in the line-up are: Indian Pond, Lode Lady, Moonlit Beauty and Moment of Majesty.
With plenty of dangerous runners in the line-up, an exciting battle is on the cards. Nonetheless, Marketing Mix seems to have the best chance of winning the big contest.
