Marketing Mix will look for redemption in the Mrs. Revere Stakes after the QE II Cup disappointment
The Canadian bred 3-year-old filly Marketing Mix will make her next start at Churchill Downs where she will head a competitive field 12 three-year-old fillies in the 21st running of the Grade 2 Mrs. Revere Stakes at Churchill Downs on 12 November,
2011.
Thomas Proctor trained Marketing Mix is coming off a second place finish to the Irish bred top runner, Together, in the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at Keeneland on 15 October, 2011. Under jockey Garrett Gomez Marketing Mix came off the pace
to rally in the final furlong but just ran out of ground.
Prior to the QE II Challenge Cup, Marketing Mix was coming off a two race winning streak. Starting from Woodbine where she scored on turf under Patrick Husbands on 31 July , 2011, over at 1 ¼ miles in the Wonder Where Stakes.
Marketing Mix downed Spooky Kitten and Hoi An in the process, who finished second and third, respective, while she posted the winning time for 1 ¼ miles in 2 minutes and 1.21 seconds.
Next up for Marketing Mix was the Grade 3 Pucker Up Stakes at Aqueduct race course under J Alvarado on 17 September, 2011, where the three-year-old filly at about 1 1/8 miles clinched the grade 3 status from Sea Level Drive and Maid of Heaven.
The two finished second and third respectively and in the process Marketing Mix topped the distance in 1 minute and 49.24 seconds.
Owned by Glenn Hill Farm, Marketing Mix the daughter of Medaglia d’Oro out of Instant Thought by Kris S, will face five other graded stakes winners in the Mrs. Revere Stakes. The ever improving Hungry Island will be a threat as always.
Smart Sting and Bizzy Caroline will look to a*s the Mrs. Revere Stakes to their already impressive resume while Groupie Doll will look to end the season on high as New Normal will look to command the lineup.
Fred and Buffy Bradley’s homebred Groupie Doll was close to winning a grade 2 event the last time she was out racing. She lost to the Brazilian bred Great Hot in the Grade 2 Lexus Raven Run Stakes.
