Can anyone give me any tips on the best way to approach marketing a new board game which I have designed. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated thank you.

  1. www.bgdf.com

The BEST resource for game design.

  2. When it comes to marketing, it is all about finding your TARGET market and differentiating your product.

    So, things to think about:

    - Who would buy this product or who is it for? (children, adults?)

    - Why would he/she buy this product? (Give specifics on what makes your board game so fun/entertaining)

    - Lastly, what makes your board game different from competitors? (Easy to follow, fun for all ages, great way to learn more about your fellow players?)

Other than those tips, I cannot say much else since I don't know very much about your product. Simply believe in your product; that confidence will show when you are selling it to others. Good luck selling your new board game!

  3. Go to a convention espescially, Manorcon   (25th to 28th July 2008).

It is the big boardgames event of the year. If nothing else, you will have a great time.  It is a friendly informal event, set up by gamers, (old friends of mine), back in the 80's.

People test out and sell new games there every year.

Alternatively approach someone like Winning Moves, to try and sell your idea.

Don't forget Ebay. It might be a cheap way to get started.
