Question:

Marketing my rock demo?

So I've just recorded a pretty cool 3 song demo and I'm ready to market it to some indie labels. I'm also about to head off to law school in New York. So my question is...can you list some good New York indie rock labels I might want to try? Also, any advice about marketing demos would be appreciated.

I've already decided to send one out to Eyeball Records and would like some names of other places along with good marketing strategies. Thanks.

  1. HI

I would approach this very differently.  Hook up with young film makers who are making "shorts" for film festivals. Make a deal with them to use your music, in exchange for being able to have some "rights" to the shorts. (music wise). Then shop your music around and you'll have the music to a film.    Sell music with demo's on Utube.  The hook: the movie shorts ....when you have a good following, you;ll be able to cut a better deal.  For more ideas feel free to contact me at ConnectTheDotsAdvertising.com.   We have a very big short film festival here in town.  Many contacts to help you. I have a couple of other ideas as well which might work in the NY area somewhat involved, could be lucrative for you.  Advantage for you: cash right away. Feel free to email me about it.
