What is the best way to advertize a small lawn and landscape business?

This is my first year in business and don’t get me wrong, things are ok...but I am at the spot where I cant seem to drum up some new work. I don’t have a lot of money, so I’m looking for some professional advise as to what I can do to get more business...

  1. The best method now is Relationship Marketing.  You need to really keep in touch with your existing clients, get referrals and generate new business.  It's a very competitive world out there!

    I have a tool that many small business owners are very interested in because it's a very inexpensive yet effective method of advertising, that involves a personal touch!  It's all done from your computer, but something "real" goes out in the mail!

  2. Put flyers on the doors of all the neighbors homes where you already work.  Do this before you start mowing.  Let them see you working, so that they'll get the implied word of mouth that the neighbor already uses your service.

    On the flyer, let them know the days you'll be in the neighborhood.  Target your flyer messages by checking out the homes and promote the services they need (such as tree trimming, aeration, spring cleanup, etc.), your rates, and discounts you offer.
