  1. Trying to be somewhat creative.

Editorial: Blog  editorial format, customers review food and  drinks provided by local restaurants.  They are divided into different catagories.  Editors choose what is published, each time editorial changes.  Advertising.  Advertisiers bid on space with the exception of anchor advertising accounts i.e car ads, liquor, jean companies,  etc.  Distribution: The people who get their blog/review published  have some to distribute, (of course), give out at hotels, news stands, schools, night clubs,  sell subscriptions on Craigs list.  Try to develop a subscription based product.  Magazine is pocket book size.  Has guide in back to local places.  Target audience: young urban market.

  2. Marketing Plan, to launch a Small  Local Weekly 'Food & Drink' magazine, an interesting idea, to promote Local Hotels and Restaurants, as well as Resorts around the city, in fact all the eating joints. You can attempt to sell advertising space to all the eating joint in the planed Magazine. Your entire income shall be from Space Marketing, subject to the circulation of Magazine.

However, for subscription you will required to look for a support from a company marketing beverages, having comparatively large publicity budget, and they buy cover page. All Chief Executives and House holds, having food out frequently, should be given subscription absolutely free. Preferably along with personal message from Director  or Manager  of a  Hotels and Restaurants, they visit mostly.

Yours ' food & drink ' magazine, shall supplement there PR man, if not substituting, the PR man !

    With all the Best.

  3. I did create a new magazine and it wasn't that.

  4. First, you have to know your area. Your first goal should be to really enrich your local community. Then, you can grow and set higher goals. So, let's say I was starting a mag in Los Angeles. But make it smaller like Santa Monica.  First, I already know I have a lot to work with.

First, design why you are doing this. Be authentic. If its because all other mags suck, then you can say that in professional terminology with a great ad slogan. If its because you loove food. Talk about that. Let the reader hear from you in a creative way.

Design the look and layout you think would be great to have. ie., testimonials, photos, blurbs, do you want to list your top 5 menu items "must try"..etc. Then, you need to plan out your main categories of food and go start talking to the places in person. Set up meetings to gather your pre-planned information logs so that when you get back to your computer, you can arrange it all and send to a printer.

The process will be lengthy but doing a great deal of setting up your outlook and pages will help you when you actually go get the info. also, in this process come up with a creative way to entice people to want to be in it, perhaps give a quote and perhaps do a coupon for your readers. They want to know that you will distribute this to # people..so have that in mind. Tell them how you are marketing this.

It should start off as a sampler for some people to start reading in high population hang outs. make sure to do an on-line presence as well so people know where to contact you and what you are all about. Advertise Advertise Advertise. Not only for the restaraunts so they can pay your way and get reasonable marketing out of it, but also offer it to other companies or distributors to advertise. They are more likely to do this if they can see some samples.

You want to get some key people behind you. Have them help sponsor the mag. have an opening where you can launch it at a fave place. A great chef or something wouldnt hurt either. Endorsing your magazine is a great marketing tool.

The rest is really about getting your distributor/publisher deal going and so you can reach many places eventually.

I personally like the idea of making it creative, frank and full of personality about the area.
