Markeys Dragon to stamp the Ladbrokes Blue Riband – Heat 3 at Hall Green on 4th April
The third heat of the Ladbrokes Blue Riband is to be held at Hall Green over 480 metres on Wednesday, 4th April. Taking part in the challenge tonight are Sharp Bullet, Markeys Dragon, Ten Large Down, Longwood Days, Musical Hijack and Coolykereen
Rum.
The most accomplished hound on the lineup is Markeys Dragon, Ace Hi Rumble’s two-year-old black son out of b***h Droopys Dakota. Five races came his way out of the nine starts that he undertook during the new season.
He cracked into the season on 5th January and had the 460 metres race at Henlow going for him by timing the track distance in 28.62 seconds.
Markeys Dragon’s second start of the season was in the Coral.Co.UK Maiden 475 (Duplicated) was a victory as the two-year-old completed the 475 metres trip in 28.17 seconds. The winner led the runner up, Mash Mad Monkey, by one and a half length while taking
28.29 seconds to settle the race.
Finishing the race third was the 7/4 favourite of the race, Murlens Murcia.
The third start of the season denied him the hat trick that Markeys Dragon was aiming for. He stumbled on to the fourth position and then captured the next race by racing over the 450 metres at Oxford by reaching the other end of the wire in 26.92 seconds
on 2nd February. The runner up of the race was Farloe Violet.
After drilling over 275 metres and then missing the two starts that followed it, Markeys Dragon struck a hat trick.
His trio began on 2nd March when he won the Lovethedogs.Co.UK Sprint Division 1 at Perry Barr. He completed the trip in 16.18 seconds and led the runner up, Romeo At Risk, by 1 ¼ lengths.
The 7/4 favourite of the race, Crossfield Jet, managed the third position.
Next he won the Stondon Puppy on 15th March over 460 metres at Henlow by clocking the distance in 27.91 seconds leading the runner up, Confident Ramona, by a length.
He struck the hat trick on 22nd March by completing the 460 metres trip in 27.96 seconds in the Bookmakers Puppy at Henlow. The evening’s favourite was soon followed by Millwards Boom.
He practiced over 480 metres at Hall Green on 28th March and mastered the distance in 28.72 seconds. This gives him the edge over the rest of the contenders today.
