What is the expected major product arising from the reaction of 1-butene with dilute aqueous acid?

  1. I suspect you mean Markovnikov addition reactions.  I'm not sure which acid you are reacting with, so I cannot provide an exact answer.  However, if you are reacting with a hydrogen halide, the halide will become attached to the carbon with the fewest number of hydrogens, while the hydrogen will be added to the other carbon in the double bond (which has more hydrogens than the other).  So here, we will add the halide to carbon 2, and the hydrogen to carbon 1.  See the link for more info.
