Markis Kido, Hendra Setiawan claim Men’s Doubles crown in Singapore Open 2012

Men’s Doubles crown of Li Ning Singapore Open belonged to Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan when they unseated Ko Sung Hyun-Yoo Yeon Seong in title match on June 24, 2012.
This clash of the titans was staged in Singapore Indoor Stadium and both teams proved themselves as the World’s best at beating shuttlecock.
They opposed each other for 49 minutes and finished this battle with 22-20, 11-21 and 21-6 margin after three exhausting sets.
The victorious Indonesian duo had to face strong opposition but they proved tough nuts to crack and locked the honour in commendable manner.
Meanwhile, the World Number four Korean couple displayed a fluctuated performance and could rise only in middle of the tussle.
In first set of the match, both teams exhibited amazing craft on the court and earned great deal of respect for their fighting spirit.
They chased each other all the way to final moments and none of them could establish a permanent lead until game point situation.
Though, Sung Hyun and Yeon Seong had a decent advantage of three points initially but their rivals caught them at 6-6.
However, they managed to place a respectable total of 11-9 before the announcement of mid-game break.
After the interval, they dominated until 18-16 but then couple of unforced errors triggered the collapse.
The twosome of Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan did not squander this opportunity and wrapped this segment with 22-20 score on the board.
Next game was played at top speed as the Koreans launched a brisk attack and dazed their opponents.
This time they played with great precision and piled up a mountainous total of 11-4 in first half of the set.
They did not show mercy in second part also and blew away their rivals with even more powerful attack. They brought the match to right balance by registering staggering figure of 21-11.
World Number eight duo Markis-Hendra did not lose nerve and stamped their competitors with a hostile response in the decider.
They started the ball rolling by registering 11-3 margin before interval and made best out of this advantage in later part of the game.
The Indonesians emerged as Champions with a notable difference of 15 points in winning score of 21-6.
