Mixed Doubles pair Markis Kido-Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth of Indonesia stretched its winning streak in SCG Thailand Open and qualified for the semi-finals on Friday, June 7, 2013.
The quarter-final tussle pit them against Danny Bawa Chrisnanta-Yu Yan Vanessa Neo of Singapore. Their meeting prolonged to 33 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 21-16 and 21-14.
A decent number of people gathered to support both teams in Nimitbutr National Stadium of Bangkok, Thailand. Though, this showdown ended just after two games but still the spectators enjoyed a great show of badminton skills.
The Indonesian players laid foundation of their dominance by winning the opening game and served notice of their supremacy in the second set. On the other hand, the twosome of Danny Bawa and Yu Yan had to surrender despite of putting
an honest effort in the court.
In the first set of the match, Markis and Pia looked completely in command as they prevailed in the establishing rallies and piled up a decent total without any major trouble. They relished full benefits of this initial lead and
finished first half of the set with a respectable score on the board.
Things were bit different after the mid-game break as the opposing team stormed back with a strong reply and counterbalanced the situation. The Singaporean shuttlers amazed everyone with their splendid craft on court.
However, the third quarter of the set saw Markis-Pia employing an effective counterattack strategy and sweeping the table with 21-16 margin.
The following game was also played in similar manner as the Indonesian duo thundered in the beginning, blundered in the middle and then ruled the court in final moments. Markis and Pia raised their chances of success by claiming
many valuable points in a row and then registered a decent figure before interval.
Though, they lost grip in the latter part of the game and allowed their challengers to bounce back. However, few back-to-back productive rallies helped them to reinstate their dominance. They maintained a convincing lead of seven
points and won this tussle with 21-14 score.
Now they will resume their campaign in the semi-finals of 2013 Thailand Open.
