Marko Rehmer insists Hertha Berlin’s first priority would be to ensure survival in the Bundesliga
Former Hertha Berlin central defender Marko Rehmer has insisted that the club’s foremost priority next season should be to ensure safety in the Bundesliga. He claimed that the side is strong enough to that the even a mid-table
finish is possible with the quality players in the squad.
Hertha Berlin achieved promotion last season after winning the 2.Bundesliga in their previous campaign. The club was relegated in the 2009-10 season after finishing bottom of the table but had a tremendous year and are now back
in the first division.
Rehmer stated that there will be some pressure on the side to secure their place in the Bundesliga for another season and it would be better if they do that as early as possible. He admitted that if that target is achieved early,
there will be less pressure on the players and the manager.
The former defender is confident that the team can have a successful season and a mid-table finish is well on the cards.
“The first priority for any promoted side of course has to be ensuring as early as possible that they're going to stay there. The players and management will doubtless be setting themselves the target of steering quickly away from
the bottom and, if possible, towards a solid mid-table position. I think the team are well capable of doing that,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former German international added that it is very important for the Blue-Whites to start the campaign well. He admitted that the opening fixture against FC Nurnberg will be a difficult one as the latter is a great side and
has proved its worth in a great season last term.
“A good start into the campaign is important, but Nurnberg were one of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 surprise packages last time around. They will take to the pitch in confident mood, and it's going to be an interesting encounter,” he concluded.
Hertha http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 will start their campaign at the Olympiastadion in Berlin against FC Nurnberg on Saturday, August 6.
