The Hoffenheim boss has praised Otto Rehhagel and insists that the veteran manager is the right man to save Berlin from relegation.
Markus Babbel was sacked as the manager of Hertha http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 in December last year after he had differences with the club board. He has been replaced by Otto Rehhagel who has been given the task of keeping the club in the first division
for another year.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 player insisted that he wants his former side to stay in the Bundesliga and is hoping that Rehhagel’s appointment will bring some positive changes. He is confident that the team will be able to get the desired
results to stay in the league at the end of the season as they have immense quality in the squad.
“I had an outstanding one and a half years with that team. In Otto Rehhagel, they've hopefully hired a coach whose experience will translate into calmness in the dressing room and the club as a whole. There's certainly enough quality
in the squad to avoid relegation,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Babbel defended his former club Bayern Munich for their disappointing form recently. He insisted that the Bavarians have been under immense pressure recently which is affecting their performances. He admitted
that the fans have been impatient off late and should give the side some time to get the confidence back.
Babbel is set to face the Munich giants this weekend with his current side Hoffenheim. The manager is hopeful that his team will be able to put in an impressive performance against Jupp Heynckes’ side.
“You're always under pressure at Bayern, and you’re always expected to win every single match, even when you’re up at the top. Most of the players have been around a couple of years and it's all they know. Bayern are absolutely
the favourites,” he concluded.
Markus Babbel made a total of 170 league appearances for Bayern Munich from 1994 to 2000. He won three Bundesliga titles, a UEFA Cup and two German Cup titles during his time at Allianz Arena.
