The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 FC defender has played down claims that he will be taking over the reins at Schalke at the end of the season.
Hertha Berlin manager Markus Babbel has brushed aside reports claiming that he will be the next Die Knappen boss. He claimed that there have been no talks between him and Schalke Sporting Director Horst Heldt and he has no intentions
of leaving the Berlin giants at the end of the campaign.
Babbel guided the Blue-Whites to promotion from the 2.Bundesliga in his first year in charge and has also started this season impressively. Hertha are currently 11th on the Bundesliga standings table with 19 points from
the 16 games played so far and have managed to lose only five times, winning four and drawing seven matches.
The former Stuttgart boss rubbished claims of a meeting with Heldt and stated that these are all stories made up by the media. He admitted that he is fed-up of the false news circulated and feels sorry for the parties involved.
“Between us there are no discussions so there is nothing to reconcile. It's annoying when lies are written, with ludicrous stories, but I feel sorry for parties involved that are at clubs that have to apologise for not having decided
what to do,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former German international added that the past few weeks have been hard for him as he has lost focus because of the negative stories rounding the circles. Some German newspapers have claimed that Babbel met Heldt after last
week’s match against Schalke to discuss the possibility of a contract next summer.
The manager said that there are numerous stories linking him to many other clubs also and he has to ignore them every day.
“It's hard. But what are you supposed to do? When my car is seen in front of the Schalke club hotel and I am supposed to have spent the night talking to Schalke, which isn't the truth and is nonsense, you just have to put up with
it,” he concluded.
Hertha http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 will next face Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday, searching their fifth win of the season.
