Markus Fernaldi, Prima Rahmanto move forward to pre quarter-finals of 2012 Macau Open
Men’s Doubles team Gideon Markus Fernaldi-Agripinna Prima Rahmanto Putra of Indonesia played impeccable badminton and cleared first round of Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold on November 28, 2012.
They smacked the Indian pair of Pranaav Jerry Chopra-Akshay Dewalkar en route to pre quarter-finals of this prestigious event.
This tussle lasted for just 28 minutes and the victorious duo displayed commendable skills to pile up a favourable margin of 21-8 and 21-16.
Markus Fernaldi and Prima Rahmanto showed superb coordination throughout this battle and did not give their rivals even a single chance to come back.
They did not waste time and established an early grip by claiming the first match point. They set the ball rolling immediately in the beginning of opening game and finished this crucial set with a significant lead of 13 points.
In the first half of the set, the Indonesian shuttlers made a notable difference with 8-5 total and then left their competitors far behind with a respectable margin of 11.
This initial advantage helped them in the latter part of the game as they enjoyed the upper hand until the last shot was played.
Though, Pranaav Chopra and Akshay Dewalkar made every effort to catch their challengers but they kept on trailing behind on the points table.
Meanwhile, the opposing team kept on playing fast badminton and doubled the lead with 16-7. Markus Fernaldi and Prima Rahmanto maintained that difference until game point situation and swept the table with 21-8 score.
The second set kept the audience intact just until half time as it proved a one-sided affair after the mid-game break.
Initially, both contenders gave each other a tough time and neither of them could establish a permanent lead until 10-10.
At this stage, the Indonesian couple prevailed in few consecutive rallies and placed an indomitable total of 16-11.
Markus Fernaldi and Prima Rahmanto did not lose focus at any stage and sealed their straight-set victory with a staggering knock of 21-16.
This timely win took them into the second round where they will lock horns with the Taipei duo Jui Wei Liang-Kuan Hao Liao.
Now they will be looking to show consistency in their performance to gain access to the quarter-final stage of this GP Gold event.
