  1. You bet your butt it's good !!!

I have the bull barrel, wood stock.

I'm not going to sit here and tell you that you're going to get 1/2" groups at 100 yards every time like others will. You will get those groups from time to time though (on a calm day you should expect a couple groups to be around 1/2"). When it's calm, you should be able to hit a quarter every shot. Wind opens it up pretty good though.

I think it's the best 17hmr on the market. Savage is just as accurate but quality is lacking a bit. Ruger is traditionally a little less accurate out of the box and overpriced due to the fact it's marketed as a "real gun". I can't stand the quality that CZ has produced 5 years or so ago (junk) so I totally avoid that brand now.

The trigger on the marlin is not good (to be nice). But the rifle basix trigger drops right in (loctite the set screws to keep the adjustments tight) and is very nice. Well worth the extra cost.

The marlin 917 is certainly a buy

  2. Mine is a very good shooter for the price of it.

My friend has a savage...Worth looking at.
