After performing exceptionally well in the just-finished Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, Marlon Samuels, the Wes Indies’ middle-order batsman, has expressed that he is hungry for runs, having spent two years out of international cricket.
The 31-year-old cricketer was banned by the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) for two years in 2008 because of his connections with bookies. The stylish right-hander however, returned to the fold of international cricket last year and has been doing brilliantly
since then, in an effort to make up for the lost time.
Samuels blasted a ton in the first innings of the second Test against the Kiwis at Jamaica, his home ground, and turned out to be the difference between the two teams. The seasoned batsman dedicated his knock to the home fans, who have supported him over
the years.
The right-hander was named as the Player of the Match for his superb effort.
"Most definitely, this is for Jamaica, the die-hard fans. Nothing difficult right now because I have two years of runs put down," the Jamaican said during the presentation ceremony.
Right-arm fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869, the fast bowler remained the leading wicket-taker of the series with
12 scalps.
The 24-year-old cricketer from Barbados is delighted with his performance, although he would have preferred supporting tracks. Roach wants to further enhance his game during the off-season.
He expressed, "Of course as a fast bowler I'd like faster, bouncier wickets. I have a couple of weeks off, will spend it with the coach (working on the no-ball problems)."
On the other side of the coin, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 captain, is also a relieved man after the series triumph, which is extremely rare for the islanders, since their slump in international cricket in the mid-1990s. The all-rounder
believes that the victory against the Black Caps has been a result of a team effort.
“Last year or two has been tough for us, we are going to celebrate this day, but it is about continuous hard work,” the captain feels.
