Marlon Sandro defeats Rafael Dias in the first round at Bellator 58 – MMA Recap
The Bellator Fighting Championships featured a featherweight bout at Bellator 58, which was held on November 19, 2011 featured Brazilian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters, Marlon Sandro face Rafael Dias. The 34-year old Sandro
was looking in great touch as he went against the 32-year old Dias inside the Bellator ring.
It was an action packed event as both fighters got to a good start. Dias, who has won thirteen fights in his career, lost six and only one of his fights went as a draw, was looking to take on the fight to the second round but his
efforts were blocked expertly by Sandro. The winner of the Pancrease Featherweight Championship in October 2008 by beating Masaya Takita in Japan, Sandro slowed down his counterpart in the early goings of the first round.
Although Sandro did have a good start in the fight, but was a bit slow in throwing his punches. Dias, who had three bouts in the World Extreme Cagefigthing (WEC) from November 2008 to August 2009, missed a chance to take down Sandro
with his straight kick. When Sandro replied back with his punches, he could not get his punches land on Dias’s face. Both fighters were giving their shots but each one of them were either blocked or evaded expertly by their opponents.
Sandro got a slight chance to attack with his punches as he succeeds. Dias was taken by surprise as Sandro’s right and left punches made Dias bleed from the nose. Using his ground moves, Sandro kept his offensive moves the moment
he saw blood coming from Dias’s nose. Sandro wanted to end the fight then and there and took chances to take Dias down for the kill but could not succeed.
Dias was resilient as he kept standing but was unable to start his counter attack for he was feeling dizzy due to the onslaught and the loss of blood.  The moment Sandro saw that Dias was taking help of the cage to stand up, he
began his furious attack. Sandro landed some serious blows with his punches followed by his elbow shots.
This was the moment in the match when the spectators knew that Dias was going to go down any time soon. Sandro was able to grapple Dias and put him on the map. Without wasting any time, Sandro locked his arm triangle choke submission
move on Dias, who had to tap out. Sandro secured a big win over Dias. For Dias, this was his first fight in the Bellator ring which he would want to forget soon.
