Maroon Machine likely to prevail in the Canterbury Horse Rescue Maiden Hurdle
Maroon Machine has the best odds for winning the Canterbury Horse Rescue Maiden Hurdle at Folkestone in England on Wednesday, February 29, 2012. The class-5 event has winning prize money of £2,053.
A total of 13 entries have been confirmed for the race and their names are: Maroon Machine, Chasing Aces, Crimson Mitre, Five Rivers, Henry’s Hero, Marcus Antonius, Chinngis Khan, Regal Park, Sharpshooter, Southwark Newsman, Twyford, Smart George and Van
Doesburg.
Out of all these runners, Maroon Machine is tipped to emerge on top of the table. He has not taken part in any hurdle yet, which might discourage a few punters to invest their money on him.
The reason why the bookmakers have shown confidence in the five-year-old gelding is his jockey, Dougie Costello, who has got quite an impressive record over hurdles, winning 109 of them.
Although Costello does not have an impressive strike rate, he will find things easy in this class against some inexperienced opponents.
Chasing Aces, trained by Gary Brown, is another horse expected to do well in the race today. He has participated in one hurdle race, but the outcome was not quite encouraging for his team.
The six-year-old gelding managed to finish eighth, but he was up against some quality runners. This indicates that he will be a lot more comfortable today, as the rest of the participants lack experience.
Chasing Aces will be partnered by Joshua Moore, who has earned 19 victories over hurdles in his career until now.
The punters will really be interested in placing their bets on Raymond York’s trained horse, Crimson Mitre. He has taken part in a couple of hurdles so far and proved to be competitive in them.
The seven-year-old gelding ended up third over hurdles in both his outings. This indicates that he is fully capable of fighting for victory at Folkestone today.
Crimson Mitre will be ridden by P. York, who has been unable to win in this form of racing out of 48 attempts. He will be looking forward to bringing up his maiden victory over hurdles today.
The remaining 10 runners are also capable of doing well, but they will have to be at their absolute best to challenge the top three favourites.
