Marouane Chamakh hopeful Arsenal can beat Manchester United to the Premier League title
Arsenal’s 2010 summer recruit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marouane-Chamakh-c24294 still backs his club to be able to win the Barclays Premier League this term.
The Gunners have been criticized with the usual ‘same old Arsenal’ chants in the past couple of weeks. Despite what looked to be a promising season, Arsenal’s trophy drought continues with their last recorded competitive cup win in 2005.
In the past month, Arsene Wenger and his men have found themselves on the verge of cementing their credentials as silverware winners but have been unable to go the distance. In the final of the Carling Cup at Wembley, they were knocked out by a spirited
Birmingham City.
In the Champions League, the North Londoners saw their dreams shattered after a promising 2-1 win at the Emirates only to go down 3-1 in the return leg at Camp Nou against Barcelona. Last week, it went from bad to worse as the Gunners fared against Manchester
United in the quarter finals of the FA Cup at Old Trafford; losing 2-0 on the night.
However, despite morale being low, the Moroccan striker is confident that Arsenal can dig deep; deep enough to challenge for the domestic club title in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749. Chamakh realizes the fact that winning the Premier League trophy would not only act as the perfect
bandage to the wounded squad and fans, but might also act as a catalyst to take the Gunners to new heights in the coming future.
The former Bordeaux striker commented, “The final thing for us to focus on is the League and, knowing the lads and the qualities we have, I think we can win it. There are 10 games left until the end of the season, there is no longer room for failure, we
have run out of excuses as we are out of all 3 Cups.”
While Arsenal have been knocked out of 3 different tournaments in 2 weeks, it might also be considered as a blessing in disguise – They can ‘fully’ focus on the Premier League now unlike Manchester United. The Gunners go into this weekend merely three points
down on the Red Devils but have a game in hand.
Reflecting on the game against West Brom this weekend, Chamakh commented, “It's an important game, like any other. We need to win this away game in order to stay in the race for the title. We've been working really hard this week to get the right result.”
