Arsenal striker, Marouane Chamakh, has rejected reports linking him with a move to Italian side, A.S http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 and wants to make his name in the Premier League.
Chamakh joined the Gunners on a free transfer before the start of the 2010/11 season and made an instant impact at the club. The striker carried the goal-scoring burden in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380’s absence through injury but when the Dutchman returned, opportunities became hard to come by for the Moroccan international.
Reports in the Italian media suggested that Roma are lining up a move for the former Bordeaux star as a replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mirko-Vucinic-c26024, who left the Giallorossi to join Juventus recently. However, Chamakh has denied the reports and has admitted that he wants to stay at the Emirates Stadium and will fight for a first-team place. The striker scored 11 goals in 44 appearances last summer.
The 27-year-old added that he has a contract with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and he will look to honour it because he has enjoyed every minute of his time at the club.
Talking to the reporters Chamakh said, "I want to make my name in the Premier League. I started well last season and lost my way. However, I want to make a name for myself here. I've heard a lot of rumours about me leaving the Gunners, but I have a contract here. I want to honour it and make myself No.1 in my position. I am looking forward to that."
Arsenal had a less than convincing 2010/11 campaign and after being in contention for winning all major trophies throughout the summer, they ended up winning nothing. Chamakh is confident that his team will bounce back strongly in the upcoming season and will make up for the failures of the previous seasons.
Roma manager will now look elsewhere as he is desperately looking to fill the position left void by Vucinic’s departure. The Giallorossi are linked with Genoa striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giuseppe-Rossi-c15027 and is weighing up a move for either of them.
