http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 striker Marouane Chamakh has admitted that he is lacking full fitness and would not be able to start for the Gunners until March 2011.
“It is a blessing in disguise, as the team is doing well and I'm able to get some rest. I hope to play again soon, but it could be in March rather than February. But it is not serious. I am here to learn, both in training and matches, and also to improve
my game and to acclimatise to London and English football,” said Chamakh.
“God willing, it will not take too long to happen for me. I am fully aware of my new status as a substitute since Van Persie's return to the side. Besides, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicklas-Bendtner-c27726 is a sub as well. But it is all about what the players do out on the pitch. I am
not worried,” he added.
Chamakh, who joined Arsenal from Bordeaux in 2010 on Bosman transfer fee, was Arsenal’s main striker during the absence of club vice-captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 in the first half of the season.
The Moroccan appeared to have gelled well with the rigorous schedule of the Barclays Premier League, as he managed to score 10 goals for the Gunners.
The former Bordeaux striker has been considered as one of the most consistent players for Arsenal, as he is one of the few players to play more than 30 games in the on-going 2010-11 season.
Although the Moroccan international admitted that he is way behind in fitness that is required to play in the Barclays Premier League yet he claimed that he is doing his level best to fulfil the rigorous demands of the English top-flight football.
Moreover, Chamakh was also rested in the last few weeks, as the Gunners’ manager opted to go for Robin van Persie in his absence. The 27-year-old hailed Van Persie’s performance for the Gunners, who has scored 10 goals for the side in the last two months.
Arsenal have a daunting task ahead of them as they welcome the Spanish Champions http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 for the knockout fixture of the UEFA Champions League.
