can someone please help me with this my family's last name is marowally and we can trace it back to germany we dont know the origin or anything because marowally isnt even a german last name info would be sooooooo helpful my grandfather was John L. Marowally and my grandmother was Rosemary A. Marowally(Spencer) my family says that it is a welsh last name but when i was looking online some people say it is italian but its spelled maroweli or something like that....I already know about everyone in WI chippewa falls.....knowing other relatives would be good too anything would help

  1. The best advice I can give is to stop trying to figure what "nationality" or origin the name is, and concentrate on where John, or his ancestors, came from.

    where someone seems to be doing the research, and shows who came from Germany. I notice immediately that they offer their sources (what census, and when), so their work seems credible. Your grandfather is included here.

    Finding the exact origin for the immigrant may be accessible, if he was naturalized, and you can find that record.  It will normally not be online.
