Juan Manuel Marquez is in Los Angeles to prepare for his fight against archrival Manny Pacquiao. Marquez is preparing hard to make sure he outboxes Pacquiao this time, and that judges call him out as the victor.
While talking to LA Times, Marquez spoke of his preparation against the Filipino. According to the 39-year-old Mexican fighter, this time he has prepared best compared to his previous preparations against Pacquiao.
“For me, the biggest thing is just by looking back on the last three fights, I know I can compete with him and beat him. I've prepared myself better than I ever have and believe I'll win,” said Marquez when asked about his preparations and inspirations against
Pacquiao.
Marquez also spoke about his last loss against Pacquiao last year. Pacquiao defeated Marquez via split decision, but the Filipino was condemned by boxing fans and analysts, as most of them believed Marquez was the better man.
Now, Marquez is looking forward to end this rivalry with a victory. The Mexican wants to give Pacquiao a knockout loss so that there are no doubts about his dominance over the former WBO champion.
“I was really upset that night. I couldn't believe it when it was announced. I knew, and I felt he knew, I had won in the ring. I knew I had won, and that's why it didn't stay with me a long time. I just knew it still wasn't settled. I badly want my hand
raised,” he added while talking about the night he lost to Pacquiao.
Marquez has lost twice to Pacquiao, once via unanimous decision and once via split decision. The first fight between the two ended up in a tie but the next two fights went into Pacquiao’s favour. Even though the Filipino has been a ring monster, he has never
been able to dominate Marquez in the ring.
Both fighters will face each other at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on December 8. Marquez is looking forward to knocking out the Filipino fight king, in order to finally declare his supremacy over Pacquiao.
