Marquez: My fans want another fight against Pacquiao – Boxing News
Juan Manuel Marquez is desperate to get another fight against Manny Pacquiao. Marquez has faced Pacquiao thrice, losing two of the bouts while one ended in a draw. Since his fight earlier in May, Marquez has been hinting towards a fourth episode with Pacquiao
this year. However, there has not been a single statement from Pacquiao’s camp regarding Marquez’s proposal.
Pacquiao’s camp has indicated a possible rematch against Marquez, Cotto or Bradley, however they have not made anything certain yet. It is known for sure that Pacquiao will fight again on November but his opponent is not yet finalised.
In his recent interview, Marquez revealed, “There's been discussion about me fighting in July, but maybe I'll fight with Manny on November 10. Beltran [Fernando Beltran, Marquez's promoter] said that, but I need to wait for Bob Arum. If Bob Arum says that
I'll fight with Manny on November 10, that would be great for me....Bob Arum [also] said Manny might want to fight me in Mexico. That would be a great thing for me [as well]. My people want to see me fight Manny again, and I'd feel very happy to do it again.”
Pacquiao recently lost his WBO welterweight title to Timothy Bradley on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The decision of the bout soon became controversial and many of Pacquiao’s haters, including Marquez and Floyd Mayweather Sr., claimed Pacquiao as
the winner. When asked, Marquez revealed that Pacquiao had won the fight and the judgement was negative.
On the other hand, Pacquiao’s advisor, Michael Koncz spoke about Pacquiao’s options for his next bout. He said that Manny has the option of fighting Cotto and Marquez too. He said Pacquiao's camp is on a vacation right now and they will decide which opponent
to face once they are back.
Marquez has been pushing the possibility of a fourth fight against Pacquiao since last year, when he lost to the Pac-man via split decision. As of now, Pacquiao is in the Philippines, helping the flood victims of his hometown. Once he is done with his chores,
the Pac-man will speak up regarding his upcoming bout.
