Marquez is happy with the way he did it – Boxing News
Although Manny Pacquiao has defeated Juan Manuel Marquez twice via decision, the latter never accepted his defeated and always called the decisions wrong. Marquez wanted to prove himself and so did Pacquiao. For both fighters, going for a knockout was the
only way to put an end to the rivalry. Pacquiao was doing well and he had Marquez but unfortunately, he ran into a well-time punch that landed him on the mat for good.
Marquez, who was on the verge of retirement but decided to challenge Pacquiao one last time, finally got his sweet moment. The referee raised his hand in the ring and he was happier than ever.
“I’m very happy I didn’t retire,” said Marquez. “I finally had my hand raised in victory and I’m pleased with how the victory came.”
When asked as to whom he is planning to fight next, the Mexican ring legend iterated, “I’m not thinking of any fight. I just want to rest and celebrate with my fans and my country.”
Even though Pacquiao was in control, it was unfortunate to see him fall. He stayed motionless on the mat for sometime but then woke up and managed to offer a smile.
For now, the tables have turned in Marquez’s favour and most analysts are calling it off for Pacquiao. To many fans and analysts around the globe, the Filipino has lost his ring rage and he is no longer the fighter he used to be.
Pacquiao’s fans in the Philippines believe the former WBO champion should retire before he puts his health on the line. Even Freddie Roach, trainer for Pacquiao, has asserted that if there will be any signs of deterioration in Pacquiao, he will not move
on with training.
Pacquiao lost to Marquez during their fourth encounter. The Filipino was hoping for a knockout but instead suffered it himself. However, it should be noted here that Pacquiao had already promised his fans that he would either knock Marquez out or be knocked
out. According to Pacquiao, he wanted to give fans a real fight and that is what happened. The Pac-man has no complaints and no regrets.
