  1. I dont know what fight you guys were watching but I am thinking you probably listened to the commentators too much who were very biased towards Pacquiao.  Marquez was much sharper and aside from the knockdowns fought a better fight.  I would have no problem and don't, saying that these two are pretty evenly matched but for whatever reason, Marquez has lots of close decision fights ala Oscar De La Hoya.  Norwood, Pacquiao I and II, Barrera, John.....he is still one of the sport's elite fighters and I think the truly knowledgeable fans will recognize that despite the questionable decision last night.

  2. I don't know much about boxing myself and you guys are right that it was extremely close or slightly in Marquez' favor.  But I'm told the decision tilted towards Pacquiao because of the one knockdown in the third.

  3. could of gone either way this time around .... was very close fight and was a great fight so not really too mad that my guy Loss, it happens.... i thought if there was a draw this fight should of been the one, so i do agree with you, but i still thought Marquez won .... either way we saw one h**l of a fight between two proud warriors so s***w the decision, just glad i got to watch it ....

  4. Hmmm I didint just because the bleeding.

  5. A true champion can't live by counterpunching alone. You gotta fight like a champ.

Pacman is a true champ. Worth every penny. That is why everyone pays to see him fight.

Everybody knows, for Marquez to win against Pacquiao, he has to KO the guy. He couldn't even manage to knock down Manny. In a close fight, that is all that matters. Pacquiao made him kiss the canvas 4 times in 24 rounds and probably even more had JMM not hanged on the rope when the round was almost over. That to me is crucial. Think about it. How can you gift Marquez the fight when the rounds are almost even. Each round could have gone the other way. But you get knocked down and get rattled a few times and brutally beaten, don't expect to win. The least you could expect is a draw just like the last one. Lucky Marquez got a draw the last time. Had the judge scored the 1st fight correctly in the 1st round, Pacquiao would have won and this fight would have not happened.

The true champion is the person wjho's doesn't wait and counterpunch. A champion brings the game to the opponent. That is why like Manny said "BUSINESS IS OVER".

Poor JMM, no more big payday. Back to $30,000 I guess. If Manny doesn't fight him again, which I think he won't anymore as there is no more reason to, both professionally and money wise, JMM will just fade away. The sad truth.

  6. I thought it should've at least ended up a draw too.

Actually, 2 of the 3 Filipino commentators during the fight had Marquez winning in their score card at the end of the fight. One of the 2 commentators was the Filipino Boxing Champ Nonito Donaire Jr. Even he was surprised as Manny was when the decision was announced, he was glad, but he was definitely surprised it turned out that way and said something about not being good at math.

  7. i scored it 115-115, but marquez was slightly the better of the two, but it could've gone either way.

  8. I'll offer the perspective of my experience there.  Most Marquez fans were celebrating a victory when the final bell rang -- holding hands high and high-fiving each other.  Pacquiao fans behind me stood calmly awaiting the decision.  The Filipino fan next to me looked on and told me "I think Marquez won...I think Marquez won."  He wasn't celebrating and looked somewhat concerned.  I was sure Marquez won.

Either way, it was a great, special fight and I feel we were all privileged to see it.  I didn't get his name, but I think my Filipino friend sitting next to me thought the same when we shook hands before leaving long after the fight ended.

I felt a moment of shock when I saw both Pacquiao's and Marquez's faces as they approached and walked by me down the aisle exiting the ring; the stunning physical evidence of their battle became very clear the closer they got.  Their beaten and cut faces left no doubt that they'd given all of themselves in there.  I feel nothing but awe and respect for both.  Each left holding their hands high, greeting and touching the hands of their fans.  As I look back over the experience, I feel that the fight itself transcended the effort to score it.
