Marquez’s trainer believes Pacquiao vs. Marquez is better than Bradley rematch – Boxing News
Juan Manuel Marquez is keen on locking horns with former WBO welterweight titlist Manny Pacquiao once again. However, there has been no update from Pacquiao’s camp regarding a fourth match between the two.
Marquez’s trainer has already promised him Pacquiao as his next promoter, yet things seem to be a little out of team Marquez’s hands right now. Manny Pacquiao is trying his level best to get a shot at the WBC welterweight titlist Floyd Mayweather jr. but
the bout seems impossible.
For now, according to Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum, a fight with Mayweather is impossible and Marquez is a good option for the Filipino.
Talking about the entire scenario, Marquez’s trainer Nacho Beristain remarked, “Bob Arum and Fernando Beltran, the promoters for Pacquiao and Marquez, are intelligent and looking for good profits.”
He added, “I think it’s better to make the fourth fight between Marquez and Pacquiao. Right now, there is an 80% chance. It’s a fight that generates more public interest and more money than a rematch with Timothy Bradley.”
While Pacquiao is eyeing Mayweather as his next opponent, Arum believes Marquez is the perfect fighter to go for. Manny Pacquiao also has the option of going for a rematch against Timothy Bradley, following his June 9 defeat against the unbeaten American
fighter who is now the WBO welterweight titlist.
However, Arum and Nacho believe that after the controversial defeat of Pacquiao, fans no longer want to see Pacquiao facing Bradley again. According to both of them, a fourth fight between Marquez and Pacquiao will be a better seller than a rematch between
Bradley and Pacquiao.
Pacquiao has fought Marquez thrice. Their first bout ended up in a tie, whereas the remaining two were won by the Filipino proud.
Marquez is still looking forward to defeat Pacquiao, even though it will change nothing. If Marquez wins this time, he will still have one win against Pacquiao’s two. Therefore, Pacquiao has nothing to lose if he faces Marquez. The fight will just be good
business and nothing else.
Pacquiao’s dream fight is against Mayweather, which is nowhere near until 2013.
