My husband asked me would I had married him if he was poor. This was my answer-

I believe that I would simply for the fact that I want to be with you for the rest of my life.We would probably have to work on finances but I'd still love you.

Is this how you know that you would marry someone even if they are poor?-

You love him.

You'd do anything to be with him.

You don't really care if he is rich.

You've stuck with him through tough times because you love him.

You want to be with him for the rest of your life.

We're not poor but I want to know did I answer that correctly and if that is how you know that you would marry someone even if they were poor or something.

  1. well said, i think you answered in the most honest way you could. I think with all the stereotypes of men being the bread winners( more so in the 50's then now, Although men are still the "primary" breadwinners even today) hubby's feel a sense of security knowing that their partners would be their no matter what their financial situation is, so although he asked would you have married him if he was poor i think subconsciously he wanted to know if you love him now for richer or poorer.

  2. yes, that was the perfect answer, good that you feel that way :)

  3. You did a great job.

  4. You were excellent!

Not only did you answer the actual question rather than his wording, you took it seriously & didn't patronise him one bit.  I think he would totally get the message and feel very loved & encouraged.
