My husband and i have been married for 2 years. The wedding happened so fast that i really didnt get to plan anything. We decided that were gonna have a church wedding and finally i get to plan my dream wedding, but what i want to know is can my dad still walk me down the isle?? Since he didnt walk me for the civil ceremony? Will it look tacky or will it be ok? Has anyone done the same?

Thanks

  1. Generally people don't wait 2 years to have a "real" wedding.  Is there a reason you want to have one now?

You and your husband have your own reasons I am sure... but people may think that after 2 years you are just after presents...

So if it were me... I would call it a Renewing of Vows Ceremony... I mean that really is what is important, right?  Sharing the promises you are making to one another in front of all the people you care about most...

Maybe hold a Party in lieu of a reception...

    Theme the night something like:

"Two Hearts... Two Years... Still ONE Love"

  2. walk your pappy down the isle!! doesnt sound tacky at all

  3. Of course it is okay for your dad to walk you down the aisle. You are doing everything else like a traditional wedding - why would you cut this out? If it is important to you then you should definitely include it. Who cares if people think it looks tacky (although I doubt that they will) - it is something that matters to you.

  4. It won't look at all tacky for your dad to walk you down the isle. However, some guests may think its tacky for you to have the ceremony now. I think its a wonderful idea, but try to avoid things like wedding showers, as many are likely to think this rude. Good luck, and I wish you the best on (re)starting your life together. :)

  5. wow your getting remarried to your own husband afther 2 years, that's great, wish you best of luck!!!

  6. Your Dad can walk you down the isle.

Your 1st wedding did u recive any gifts? Was it anyone else their? If you did it might be too soon for another wedding. If you didn't then go for it!

  7. Of course your dad can walk you down the isle.  Are you planning on renewing your vows the same day as you got married the first time?

Congratulations.  I hope its everything you wish it to be.

  8. Why bother go all out for a wedding only 2 years after actually being married.  This goes to show you only want to show off rather than have a marriage based on the love you have with what you had at the time.

  9. I have seen this done before, especially with military couples.  They get married before a deployment and then have their wedding later on.  You both deserve to have the wedding of your dreams and that absolutely means that you should have your daddy walk you down the aisle.  Wish you both the best!

  10. Hi.

The very FIRST thing you need to do before you do any more planning is to check with the minister/pastor/priest of the church where you are having your renewal of vows ceremony to see what is appropriate.  YES, it is a renewal of vows ceremony (or a "blessing of the marriage" if you are Catholic), NOT a wedding, so the pastor/minister/priest will be able to guide you as to what is appropriate.

The reason I tell you this is because a while back there was a girl who posted on here that she had everything set for her renewal of vows ceremony..... a big poofy dress, dad walking her down the aisle, bridesmaids, etc. ......only to be told by her priest (this was a Catholic Church) that none of this was appropriate so she was very devastated and didn't know what to do.

Perhaps your church is a little less strict....but in any case, I urge you to contact your minister before proceeding any further.  If he/she says that you can do what you want.....then do what you want.

If it was me, though, I would keep it more on the low-key side, but that's just me.

    Hope this helps!

  11. I say, do whatever you want!  I don't think that it would look tacky to have your Dad walk you down the aisle.  My brother-in-law was married in a civil ceremony almost two years ago.  They waited until their 1st wedding anniversary to have the church wedding and his wife's father walked her down the aisle.  You should go for it and enjoy your day.
