my fiance took me with him, i picked it out... quite honestly, we went to the mall, noticed the jewerly store was having a 75% off sale, went in, my eyes went right to a specific ring.... and  he bought it, then and there!

We shopped around together. We wanted to be sure that we'd pick something we'd both love without blowing our budget. Sure enough, we did, before we hit a half-dozen jewellers' in a day.

Go to any reputed jewellry shop they will show you 100s of designs. Take you would be husband/wife and choose one.

I'm not engaged at all, but when it does happen, it'll be the easiest thing in the world to get the perfect ring.  All he has to do is ask my mother for the ring.  The engagement ring I want, I already own.  It belonged to my great-grandmother.  My mother has it for safe keeping for the time being.

My fiance picked mine out by going to the local jeweller who carries estate jewelry. He knew because of my skin tone that he wanted yellow gold, which isn't readily available now, and he obviously didn't want a diamond (so much easier to make sure it's ethical). He had done some research online on what he wanted, and basically he walked in and they had the right ring. It's harder to do that way though, because the selection is so variable.
