What is the best time of year to get married in Detroit, MI? I thought of a winter wedding, but I hear it gets EXTREMELY COLD in the winter in Detroit. I thought of spring, but I hear that it's still cold during spring. So then I come to summer. Humidity!!! So, I guess that leaves fall. But, I've heard that it gets cold quick. So, I'm unsure as to when the best time of year is. It seems as though the weather is iffy. What do you guys think? Anyone out there from Michigan know when the best time is??? Thanks

  1. I live in Lansing which is about 1 hour north of Detroit.  I am getting married in September.  The weather from late April until late September is typically quite nice.  Granted mid-July to mid-August can be very humid.

Early October can also be a nice time to get married.  Temperatures will probably be in the 50s-60s.

We've also been known to have our 'Indian Summer' in late October as well.

Check out weather.com and type in 'Detroit' and you can see a yearly average for temperatures.

  2. We were married in August in MI and, yes, it was hot and humid, but your venue should be air conditioned so that's not really a concern.

A friend was married late December one year and that was beautiful too.  They had fresh snow and it was very nice.

Really, no matter what you'll have to roll with the punches with the weather.

  3. get married in north muskegon michigan :D

  4. Hi.  I live in upper Michigan now, but grew up in Detroit and still have family there.

I would choose summer or fall.  Both are really nice.  Yes, the summers can be humid....but choose a reception venue that is indoors!  Or, and indoor/outdoor place, like a golf club.  The fall is beautiful and nice also.  Not too hot...not too cold.  Anytime from June through October would be a nice time, in my opinion.

Yes, the weather is iffy all year...so definitely make arrangements for something indoors if possible.

    Good luck!

  5. Yes, the winters can get pretty bad. Try later spring or fall if you want decent weather. It doesn't seem too bad then. I live a little bit north of Detroit so I know what I'm saying. :-)

  6. You're right about Michigan weather being kind of iffy.  Yesterday it was close to 90 and today it's low 70's.

Early spring is still pretty cold.  Try for late May, early June, or mid to late August if you want to avoid most of the heat.

    Good luck!
