Marry in Italy and return with husband to finish documents?

Is it possible to return back to America during the waiting process of documents once I've been married in italy? I can file the documents after we marry!!!

You ( if you are an American citizen) may return to the U.S. and apply for a spousal visa for your husband.  HE cannot.  It can take quite a long time to get the spousal visa. It would be wise to consult an immigration lawyer.
