i am currently a US citizen, but my girlfriend isnt a US citizen. She doesnt live in the US. But i plan on getting married real soon. Can anyone tell me whats the quickest way for her to be able to come back with me to the US? Are ther any formalities or paperwork tht i must prepare in advance? this is the US afterall, theer is always paperwork to be done. I dont want to go abroad, marry her, then find out she cannot come back with me just yet. Any help wud be appreciated. Because im thinkin of goin abroad, marrying her, then if i apply for a spouse visa form the US consulate abroad, how long wud tht take to approve? or is ther another way to ge t*t done. im lookn for the quickest (legal of course). shes got a degree in medicine and she will continueher schoolin her. thanx

  1. Go for a K1 Visa (Fiancee) and that will give her 90 days to get married within the US, once married she will get a temporary visa which is going to allow her to work while she gets her Green Card.

Timing is so difficult to estimate, could go from 3 months to 1 year or more, but I think this is your best shot.

    Regards

  2. Whether you get married or not in her country, you will still have to go back here to file the paperwork.K-1 will be the fastest for her to get here (6 months - a year)  but you will be getting married here in the US.If you will pursue the spouse visa. You can choose the K3 or CR1 route.K3 is faster but again you will also have to deal with paperwork when she gets her to adjust her status.CR1 is longer but it is an immigrant visa. Her greencard and SSN will be automatically sent to her weeks after her arrival here.

  3. You get married.  You are not allowed to file abroad because you don't live abroad.  You come back alone.  You file Forms I-130, I-864 and G-325A with the USCIS.  Expect it to take about a year.
