Question:

Mars, Venus and the choice of partners ???

It is said in many books that venus in a man's chart and mars in a woman's chart indicate the type of partner they want / or drawn to

But Since venus can never be 48 degree away from the sun , or 2 signs a way from the sun, that means that with any given sign, men only have 5 choices of female types ( astrologically speaking of course ) , say if he has Venus in gemini , then his choice of partner would likely be Aries, Taurus, Gemini , Cancer or Leo. While Mars can be in any of the 12 signs regardless of the sun's position, hence women are able to drawn to/or attract any type of men.

So the question is, does this mean that ( besides from the mathematical standpoint ) , men prefer women that identifies more to his own self image/ indentity/ego ( since venus is always closer to the sun ), while women has a better ability to go with a more variety of male types ( even if they might clash with their own identity ? )

Whats your opinion on this ?

Thanks in advance

  1. my venus is in scorpio . . .

i dont think it applies to me when choosing a partner . . .

i think its my mars sign- gemini

    and juno-sagittarius

the gemini sagg type of people appeal to me . . .

and i know this to be true with guys who have their venus in leo but juno in scorpio . . . they prefer the more intense types . . .

  2. Hmm interesting question, but I've never thought of Venus that way.

Venus may help indicate attraction and the presentation of what a person loves, but that by no means limits the Sun of a person's mate!

I mean, look at all the things that can happen in a chart:

In the case of woman and man--

A woman can have an Ascendant in the man's Sun, and that can draw him to her.

The combination of a woman's Sun and Moon can present itself differently than just a Sun alone...for example, a Scorpio moon would add drive to a Libra Sun and the combination of the two could present itself as something appealing to a Venus in Capricorn!

A woman who's under stress may be relying on her Moon to get her through the pressure. That Moon could attract a person with that Venus...

A womans' Mars (her outgoing energy) can often be mistaken for her Sun....people, especially men, often pull in the "way a woman moves" with his general impression of her "looks", so the physicality of her Mars will sway the man's Venus, also..

And don't forget aspects...Aspects of Mars to the Ascendant or Sun can mascarade as Aries or Scorpio, for example...

So many other things are going on between two charts...

Also, I've never prescribed to the idea that Mars indicates the male in a woman's chart..I've found that, in most cases, the Venus still indicates what's attractive to a woman and the Mars indicates how she acts/reacts when she's in love...I have found this definition to be more accurate than the "Mars is the guy" thing..at least with the charts I've done.

    Just an opinion.

  3. I'm not an expert, but I thought your question was rather interesting.

I have not really had much experience with the mars and venus signs in relation to the partners you choose. I don't really see much evidence to indicate that it is true.

But, if that is true, I don't necessarily think that it means that men would prefer women more close to his self-image/sun. For instance, a man with sun in pisces and venus in aries would theoretically be attracted to a woman rather different to him. He would be a more sensitive, flowing individual, while his love interest would be more forward, active, and direct.

It could just indicate that women are more open to partners of any type astrologically, but men are have a smaller range in their tendencies for attraction (not that that interest is necessarily similar to his own self).

As I said, I don't really know if the venus/mars partner thing is true anyway, though.

  4. Hey Ryan!

I don't think that it has relevance. This is just my opinion. I agree with the post above me and it just depends. I think that some people find that opposites attract. While others prefer someone similar to them. In my opinion that is just preference. Someone can have the same Mars sign (male) and feel completely different about how they view companionship. I hope I answered your question.

  5. No, not necessarily. You still have aspects, as well as houses.

A venus in gemini man with sun in gemini,

who has venus square mars, or venus in the 8th house, conjunct pluto, will most likely go for the scorpionic type of woman.

also, did u mean sun in gemini in ur 2nd paragraph?

alot of the time men with venus in one sign marry a woman of the opposing sign to their venus.

On the contrary, mars represents the male, venus represents the female.. so mars being in all signs shows the man's propensity to be with all types of woman! Venus being close to the sun shows that the woman is needy and tied to her man!

venus in a man does show the type of woman he prefers, yes, tied to him (the sun), but aspects in his chart esp negative aspects to venus will push him away from the type of woman represented by his venus because he will find her repulsive, especially if he has venus square saturn

  6. I have venus in Sagg and mars in cap. Most of the men that have been attracted to me have been sagitturus and aquarius men. The men i have been attracted to have been Libras and virgos men. I do have a lot of aspects towards the planet Uranus so that may explain why the Aquarius men are attrated to me but i dont know why i am attrated to libra men and not my mars and sign capricorn.
