The Olympique de Marseille goalkeeper has received much-needed support from a host of former players following the Frenchman’s error during the 4-1 defeat against Valenciennes
Former goalkeepers, who played for Olympique de Marseille in yesteryears, have come to the support of the current http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steve-Mandanda-c34177 who made a huge error during Marseille’s 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Valenciennes in Week
7 of the 2012/2013 Championnat.
In his defence, Mandanda stated that he wanted to throw a quick ball towards http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Valbuena-c24690 and did not realise that Valenciennes players were on to the midfielder.
Steve Mandanda’s incredible ball destined towards Valbuena has spread across the web like a virus and the custodian has now become an easy target for mockery. However, former Marseille coach, Nicolas Dehon has backed Mandanda to move on from the howler quickly.
Dehon who the goalkeeping coach at the Velodrome for almost two years, said that Mandanda has matured a lot in recent years and people should remember him for the good things that he has done at the Rhone club.
“He has some experience. He has already been in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 team, he has matured. He should be remembered that there he has done good things in the game. He commits one error, but he still has done more good things.”
Similarly, former France international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jean-c18112 Castaneda has also leapt to the defence of the 27-year-old and has said that the error against Valenciennes was one minor blip and that Mandanda should be left alone.
Another former Marseille shot-stopper, Gaetan Huard delivered a reassuring speech regarding Mandanda. The former Bordeaux man said that the error committed by the goalkeeper was not as alarming as it has been made out to be.
“His error is not alarming. We should not question the fact that he is a great keeper. This was not a technical error.”
Huard further went on to say that during his time as a player, he often made errors like these during training so what Mandanda did on Sunday, should be forgotten.
Indeed, one error does not define Mandanda’s credentials as he has made a good start to the season.
