In February, Francefootball.fr announced that Ligue 1 giants Olympique de Marseille and Lille are closely monitoring Algerian international Rafik Djebbour. The Algerian international is currently under contract at Greek side Olympiacos where he has scored
9 goals in 16 games in the super league. Since joining Olympiacos, Djebbour has become a lethal striker.
The 28-year-old striker was passed on from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247 as a young player and since then, has become one of the best strikers in the Greek Super League. Djebbour has now caught the attentions of Lille and Marseille who are looking to mount bids for him when
the summer transfer window opens.
If the two clubs are serious about the player, they must be careful as the competition for the striker’s signature is about to become intense. Reports claim that numerous European sides are keen on signing the striker.
Algerian daily, Le Buteur claims that the likes of Metalist Kharkiv, Spartak Moscow, Werder Bremen, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 and Espanyol are all keen on signing a striker who has been in great form of late.
Of course, OM and Lille will be looking to do something about it but Marseille’s case seems pretty week. The Rhone side is currently far away from a European berth which means that Djebbour might hesitate in joining a club that can’t offer him European football.
Lille on the other hand, may have a strong case. As things stand, Les Dogues are in third place in the Ligue 1 standings and may finish the season on the same place. Playing in the Champions League for Lille would certainly be an enticing prospect for Djebbour.
Under contract at Olympiacos until June 2013, Djebbour has said that he is happy with life in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Greece-c2908. However, the Greek Super League is going through a tough time due to the current financial situation in the country. This could also play a big role in
the future of the Algerian.
