Following a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Ajaccio in Corsica, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 are certainly sinking and sinking fast for that matter. However, Vincent Labrune is refusing to back down and is hopeful of better days
On Friday, Olympique de Marseille lost yet again in the Ligue 1. This time, it was at Corsica where Didier Deschamps’ men came face to face with an Ajaccio side that defended resolutely throughout the game. In the end, a Benjamin Andre goal condemned Marseille
to another defeat.
Following the game, president, Vincent Labrune spoke in a mixed zone to remove any hint of a crisis situation at the club and even reaffirmed his support for coach Didier Deschamps.
Yesterday, Deschamps was rumoured to be on the verge of leaving the club by the end of the campaign. The likes of Marcello Lippi and Eric Gerets have been touted as possible replacements for the Frenchman if he chooses to leave the club.
While talking to L’Equipe, Labrune said that things are certainly not going well for the team but said that he is hopeful of good things to come from his side.
Labrune then went on to show his unwavering support for Deschamps.
“The question does not arise. All titles we have had lately, we owe it to him. Really, it’s not a question. Not yesterday, not today, not tomorrow or after tomorrow.”
This support would certainly allow the Frenchman to prepare Les Phoceens for the game at San Siro against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan. As things in the league indicate, the game against Inter might be the last time Marseille play in the UEFA Champions League this year and
Deschamps would be keen to take his team as far in the competition as possible.
Lyon will host LOSC Lille tonight at the Stade de Gerland. Les Dogues are occupying the last Champions League berth and the result of that game could also be an important one in the race for the UCL which means that Marseille should keep their fingers crossed
and should also turn the tide if they really want to feature in Europe at all next season.
