The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international has been linked with a move away from Stade Velodrome for quite some time but coach Elie Baup has put an end to the speculation by saying that the striker is not for sale
After breaking his fifth metatarsal, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 striker will be reunited with the treatment table for at least six weeks. The France international suffered the injury last week which means that coach Elie Baup will have to rely on Loic Remy and
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Ayew-c19098.
The former had been linked with a move away from Stade Velodrome in the January transfer window with English Premier League outfits http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 touted as his possible destinations. However, it now appears that the striker who graduated
from Lyon’s Tola Vologe academy, is not going anywhere in the foreseeable future.
The France international, like Gignac, was on the treatment table for most part of the club’s preseason and also missed France’s adventure at the Euros in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 earlier this summer. However, the striker is now fully fit and will be looking to
spearhead Les Phoceens’ attack in the absence of Gignac.
While talking to L’Equipe and Provence, Elie Baup has stated that the club in no way will let go of the former OGC Nice striker as the club is totally relying on his ability to forget the absence of Gignac.
“He (Loic Remy) remains a high level player. The club has always relied on him. We rush things today and it is his efficiency, which is necessary for our results which are also important for him. After that, there is no question about whether he should go
or not,” launched the former Toulouse coach thus putting an end to all the speculation regarding the striker’s future.
And, this sudden confidence in retaining the player is not a hollow sentiment either. Given the circumstances, Olympique de Marseille have no other option. Apart from Remy, Marseille have only three other striking options in Jordan Ayew (too unreliable),
Florian Raspentino (still getting used to his new surroundings) and Billel Omrani (a talented youngster who needs time to get the hang of things).
