Despite making a perfect start to the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 are not out of the woods yet and could lose a few important players before the transfer window shuts down
On the field, everything is rosy for Ligue 1 outfit Olympique de Marseille. Les Phoceens are on the Ligue 1 summit after winning their opening three fixtures of the new campaign. Fans are further buoyed by the fact that their bitter rivals, Paris Saint-Germain,
are yet to register a win in the Championnat despite investing so much on new players this summer.
After beating reigning champions Montpellier Herault 1-0 at the Mosson, one can argue that the Rhone side will be in the thick of things throughout the Championnat. Furthermore, with Andre-Pierre Gignac finally finding his goalscoring touch, Loic Remy will
have someone to share with the goalscoring burden that took a toll on him last season.
Gignac has scored two goals in three games and is now the joint topscorer in Ligue 1.
And, the club’s recovery after a poor last campaign has impressed French media. Le Provence, a newspaper that has been considered too biased in recent months, is impressed with the Rhone club’s exploits.
Last season, Les Phoceens had to wait for 10 games to register their first game so it is certainly a major improvement under Elie Baup’s supervision.
Despite seeing the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and West Ham United respectively, Les Phoceens have done pretty well.
The likes of Stephane Mbia, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Ayew-c19098 and Loic Remy are also linked with a move away from the Velodrome which means that a great start to the season could be jeopardise if the aforementioned players leave Canebiere.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rod-Fanni-c31402, who signed from Stade Rennais just a few years back, claims that this uncertainty is not going to affect the team’s performance.
“There is a lot of uncertainty around the club and players, but we do not feel like this in the locker room. We play the game thoroughly without worrying about what happens to X or Y. We live from day to day, and try to remain united. Now, it is true that
few recruits will not hurt.”
Despite leading the league standings, all could well fall apart for the 2010 Ligue 1 champions if the departing players are not replaced effectively.
